Dear Parents and Families,
The start of the spring semester is always an exciting time. Despite the winter weather, campus is coming alive with student activity and a wide array of programs designed to help them find their community. Therefore, in this edition of Parent Update, our featured Q&A with Roatha Kong, Ed.D., senior director of student engagement and formation, offers practical advice on how you can support and encourage your student to get involved on campus this term.
We also highlight the Career Center’s insights into the 2026 job market, the Church in the 21st Century Center’s Pray It Forward program, and the latest Student Affairs Facts and Figures.
Finally, we recognize that February marks the beginning of the room selection process, which can be a challenging time for students. To help you support them through this transition, we are hosting a webinar, “Understanding the Room Selection Process” on January 30 at noon (register here). If you cannot attend, here are some resources from the Office of Residential Life.
Sincerely,
Shawna Cooper Whitehead, Ed.D. Vice President for Student Affairs
